Peruse Trinity's Library

Have you read any good books lately?  I’d love to tell you about one that I enjoyed reading.  “Unbroken,” by Laura Hillenbrand, is the true story of Louis Zamperini, a remarkable man.  Louis grew up quite the trouble-maker, until he discovered his love, and ability, for running – and running fast!  Louis gained international notoriety as a long-distance runner, before entering the Air Force at the beginning of World War II.  The story follows Louis through his training and into battle where he becomes stranded on a tiny inflatable raft in the middle of the ocean with two fellow airmen.  He is eventually “rescued” by the Japanese military and ends up a Prisoner of War.  This novel isn’t always easy to read – it covers some pretty terrible times in Louis’ life – but the overall optimism and power of personal perseverance and strength is uplifting and inspiring.

If you’d like to read “Unbroken,” there is a copy available in our library, in the

Fireside Room.  You can also find other good reads such as “The Help” by Kathryn Stockett, “90 Minutes in Heaven” by Don Piper, and a large fiction section, including all of our Book Club selections.  Happy Reading!   Amy Stamatiou
