At the end of the regular session on March 10, the House of Representatives and Senate differences over the Supplemental Budget were too significant, so Governor Inslee called a 30 day special session. During the regular session, Gov. Inslee signed only 10 of the proposed 37 bills. One of which was a FAN bill (SB5342) expanding the definition of human trafficking to include labor trafficking. The FAN lobby team worked hard for its passage and are very appreciative of its signing.

FAN's key message to legislators during this special session has been to not forget the poor and vulnerable. FAN especially asks legislators to fund mental health services and a voucher system for homless students. To date it is expected that a budget agreement has been reached, including funding for mental health services.

For more information on FAN, this special legislative session and how to contact your legislators see FAN's website, www.fanwa.org.
