From the Church Council President

By Mary Nielsen |  May 1, 2014

Dear Friends,

Council had quite a few items of business to discuss this past month.   First, Council was enthusiastic to accept the Synod’s offer to have Pastor Diana Bottin serve as our Interim Pastor and it was approved to extend her a contract agreement to begin May 11.   It has been suggested to Council by several of Virginia’s friends that a tree be planted on our grounds in her memory.  A committee will look into that idea.  We received a thank you from Synod for Trinity’s 2013 Mission Support.  Council approved goals for 2014 that follow our Mission Statement: WE are God's people in Jesus Christ who in our urban setting WORSHIP together, PROCLAIM the Gospel, and NURTURE and SERVE others in response to God's love.  The four goals are:  to follow the process to call a new pastor; to continue to support the activities and programs of Trinity with careful stewardship, with an eye to building our
fellowship community; to communicate all that we do with our congregation and outside the church by many means; and to keep ourselves organized simply with procedures that can be readily communicated to everyone whenever the need arises.  A big job.

God Bless Trinity,
Mary Nielsen
