Local Benevolence for December

December 14, 2011

Our December “Local” Benevolence Opportunity

This month our opportunity of the month is not really local—it is a global opportunity.  Our benevolence gifts in December will go to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal, with a special emphasis on East Africa where hunger is so rampant.

This is also a great time to consider giving Christmas presents through the ELCA Good Gifts Program.  There is a catalog in the Fireside Room or you can go on-line at www.elca.org/goodgifts to make your donation and choose a very special gift—like a goat, a pig, or larger gifts such as wells, school fees, microloans, or vaccinations.  This year let your gift truly be a gift of life and hope.

For other “gifts that make a difference” consider giving a Fair Trade Gift through Lutheran World Relief.  Gifts include handcrafted items from all over the world as well as coffee, tea, chocolate and other food products.  Your purchase directly benefits the farmer or craftsperson.  Go to their website at www.lwr.org for more information.  Go to the Trinity website for a quick link.
