Trinity Aid Bank

The Trinity Aid Bank

As we come to the end of 2011, I want to recap the work of the Trinity Aid Bank.  Thank you to all of you who so faithfully support this ministry!  In addition to the gifts of the people of Trinity Lutheran we receive food from Central Lutheran, Trinity Episcopal, First Covenant and Trinity Lutheran College.  This year for the first we were able to give away fresh food from the Trinity Giving Garden and from the gardens of many generous people.  A partnership with the Trinity Lutheran College roof top garden provided some fresh food as well.

Over the year we have helped over 350 households.  Some of these are repeat people as they can return once a month for assistance.  Often help is given to one person, but sometimes we give food for whole families.  Some people do not have access to a kitchen and so ready to eat food is needed, but we also give away food so that families can sit down together to a full meal.

In addition to the Food Bank, your gifts of money allow us to provide emergency financial assistance to a few people each month, such as a night at a local motel, utility assistance, prescriptions, bus passes, and rental assistance. The needs are great and so we refer people to other local agencies when possible.  We are also able to help on a limited basis with soap, toiletries, disposable diapers, socks and sometimes even pet food.

Thank you for your continuing generosity as the hunger and housing needs increase in our community.  Jesus said in Matthew’s Gospel, “I was hungry and you fed me.”  Your support makes this ministry possible.
