Trinity Recognized for Public Welcoming Statement

Reconciling in Christ

May 10, 2009

Trinity Lutheran Church has been recognized by Lutherans Concerned/North America as the most recent Reconciling in Christ congregation in Snohomish County.  This recognition comes after the congregation officially adopted a public statement of welcome for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
The Rev. Jocelyn Carson, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church sees this statement as "a continuation of the church's history of social ministry."
The Reconciling in Christ recognition means that the congregation will be listed on a roster of congregations, organizations and synods in the United States and Canada, which publicly welcome gay and lesbian members.  Emily Eastwood, Executive Director of Lutherans Concerned/North America stated, "We are deeply grateful for this grace filled gesture by Trinity Lutheran Church.  Their witness and leadership is a beacon of hope for gay and lesbian people and the next step on the path to reconciliation and healing within the church and society."
Lutherans Concerned/North America is a Christian ministry affirming God's love for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.  Reconciling in Christ is a program of Lutherans Concerned/North America. For more information, visit their website: www.goodsoil.org.
